Dr. Kathryn Herin developed a love for animals at a young age. She now brings her award-winning skill and passion to the community through her work at Bandera Veterinary Clinic. As a mixed-animal veterinarian, she provides compassionate, comprehensive care to a wide range of animals and is comfortable seeing small companion animals and livestock alike.
Dr. Herin received both her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University. During her studies, her exceptional clinical skill and relationship-centered care were recognized with the prestigious 2025 American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) Award for Proficiency in Primary Care. Her professional passion lies in preventive medicine and empowering owners with the knowledge to care for their pets. Dr. Herin also has a particular interest in small ruminants, especially enjoying work with sheep and goats.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Herin serves as a key Veterinary Consultant for ARK Ecological Consulting. She provides on-site ranch visits, offering best-practice veterinary consultations for managing livestock and wildlife. Dr. Herin specializes in creating integrated health plans that consider how animals interact with their specific landscape, ensuring a sound and holistic approach to land and animal management.
